Meet the "DEFCON 1" escape room prop! Picture this! You're in an underground bunker, and a foreign country has launched a nuclear strike against your homeland. Players need to find five keys (Through puzzles designed by you), insert all keys into the 5x key lock modules, and turn all keys simultaneously in order to launch heat seeking counter measures and a retaliation strike. If time runs out before this happens, you lose the game. A nuclear attack has hit your country, and it is ALL YOUR FAULT!
Instructions:
You have three options for game time (30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes). This occurs at the very beginning of the game after power on. If you want to play a 60 minute game, simply press the red button on reset or on power up. If you wish to play a 30 minute game, take a key, insert it into the key#1 slot, turn the key right to the ON position, and press the red button. From there, follow the audio instructions. If you wish to play a 45 minute game, insert a key into the key#2 slot on power up, and turn the key right in to the ON position. From there, press the red button. Once you've done this, you will be prompted to turn all keys left, to the OFF position. Once all keys are in the OFF position, the unit will automatically say "Press the red button to start the game". The unit will repeat this over and over until the game begins (As seen in the above video). Note that you need to plug this prop into your escape room stereo system. A stereo cable is provided with this prop.
Once the players press the red button, the game starts, and the prop gives the players a game introduction. It is now the goal of all of the players to find all five keys throughout your escape room. All keys need to be turned right, into the ON position at the same time. In the video above, I programmed this delay to be about five seconds, but this was so that I could finish the game on my own. The real timer is about one fifth of a second, or 200ms. All keys and key modules are the same, so keys are interchangeable, but the players need to turn them all at the very same time to complete the game. If only some keys are turned, or if the keys were not turned simultaneously, then the unit will tell you that you were unsuccessful, and to try again. It will also repeat the instruction to turn all keys back to the
original positions before you can move forward.
If time runs out before the players are able to achieve the goal of finding all of the keys, and turning them all at the same time, then the players lose. The system tells the players that a nuclear strike has hit native soil, and that survivors can look forward to "100 years of fallout. What a miserable existence! Game Over. You Lose."
