This prop is perfect for escape rooms, because the keypad (42x buttons) requires a very specific 8-digit sequential combination in order to release the included electromagnetic lock, which can be used to open a door or secret compartment. That means that there are almost ten trillion different 8-digit combinations. Without very specific hints as to what the 8-digit code is, there's no way that the players will be able to guess the combination. What makes this even better, is that your code can be words, numbers, combinations of letters and numbers, and even commands. You can program, and re-program your own combination with ease. The combination is saved into EEPROM memory, which means that the code will be saved even after power off, and will remain in memory until you program in a new 8-digit code.
How to program your own 8-digit code:
1) Press these keys in order: "SAVE / P / R / G". The SAVE command is one button. When you press those buttons in order, you enter into program mode. From here, enter in your own 8-digit combination. Once you've done that, the LCD let's you know that the code has been saved.
How it works:
When you're not in program mode, the unit will constantly be displaying "ENTER COMBO:". As you enter your combination, the entered digits, commands, or letters are written to the bottom line of the LCD. If you enter in an incorrect combination, the LCD displays "INCORRECT COMBINATION", and the buzzer on the main board beeps three times as an audio indicator of an incorrect combination entry. If you enter in the correct combination, the LCD says "CORRECT COMBO!", and the electromagnetic lock is released for 30 seconds. As soon as you enter in the final digit of your correct combination, the buzzer offers one long beep for three seconds. Once 30 seconds has elapsed, the electromagnetic lock becomes energised again, and the program resets, and the LCD again reads" ENTER COMBO:". It is an extremely simple prop that is easy to mount, and comes fully assembled, and ready to be plugged in and used!
