This prop is fairly extensive in what it offers, but is very simple to hook up and use. The video above offers a full demonstration of this prop. The goal of this game is to find the correct three key cards, and hold them over the three RFID antennas at the same time. This will cause the linear actuator to open, which can be used to reveal a hidden compartment, knock something down, open a door, etc. The possibilities are endless. When you purchase this listing, you receive a ton of hardware, which is listed below. Everything is completely mountable.
How does it work?
While it looks complicated with all of the power supplies and wiring, it is actually a very simple to hook up and operate. On power up, you can use the wireless key-fob to extend or retract the wireless actuator. This is an extra function. If you wish to have an actuator default state of fully retracted, we can help you with that. If you'd rather the actuator be fully extended as a default state, we can also do that for you. You can actually do this yourself at your end with next to no effort!
When you power the unit up after it is fully assembled, you need to program in a single RFID card for each reader module. This is a very simple process. What you'll need is a power bar, as this set comes with a total of five powers supplies. Anyhow, power up the set, and take three of the five provided RFID cards, and tape a symbol or number on the cards, so that you know which card is being programmed for which reader. Once powered up, you'll know, as each of the RFID readers have a red power LED that lights up. Follow these steps to program your cards into the memory bank of the RFID readers (All of this is covered in the above video):
1) Press the following buttons in order to enter into program mode: Key1/Key2/Key3/Key3/Key2/Key1/Key4 (1233214). Once this is done, the FUNCTION LED (green) on the reader will light up.
2) Take a card in hand, and hold down Key1. When holding down Key1, place the card over top of the RFID reader antenna. The LED will start to flash.
3) Let go of Key1, and put the card down.
4) Press Key2 and Key4 at the exact same time to exit program mode. When you do this, the FUNCTION LED will turn off, and the MODE LED will turn on. Congratulations. Your card is now programmed into memory.
Once you've programmed one card per reader, the rest is easy!
The game has now begun, and really, it now begins on power up. You only have to program the cards once. You can reprogram at any time, but you don't need to. Now when you power up, when you place the correct cards over the correct readers at the same time, the actuator changes states (Fully extend or fully retract). As a game master, you create the puzzles and theme, and hide the cards appropriately. If the players find the right cards, and determine which cards are meant for which reader, then the actuator will open a door, knock something off of a shelf, or open a hidden compartment. This can be used as a primary game prop (The game ends once the actuator opens/closes), or as a supporting prop (changing the state of the prop reveals something that allows for the players to go farther into the room).
Once the game is over (Once the correct cards have been placed on the readers, and the actuator opens/closes):
In order to bring the actuator back into it's default state, you need to insert the reset key, and turn right. Once you do this, the actuator goes back to it's original position. If you still have the key inserted and turned right after the actuator has completed it's journey back to its default state, then the two LEDs on the main board will flash until you right the key left again. Once this is done, the program resets. Easy Peazy!
